Da y 5 Ephesians 1:5

Day 5
“…, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will,” Ephesians 1:5

Adoption is a wonderful act. It is an act of love with the intentional purpose to give the child a life they would not receive otherwise. It is an act of sacrifice to take on the responsibility to love and care for a person for the rest of their lives. Adoption is a serious choice never made lightly, but intentionally and thoughtfully. Adoption in Paul’s day was irrevocable – an adopted child could never be disinherited.

How much does God love you? It was His pleasure to adopt you. He chose to love you and adopt you before you ever loved Him. (I John 4:10) He paid the price for you by Jesus Christ’s sacrifice at Calvary. The fact that your adoption was “predestined” means that it can never be revoked.

The picture of adoption illustrates in a powerful way just how much God loves you. Why would God choose to lavish on us “every spiritual blessing in heavenly places” as we learned in verse 3? Because you are His adopted child! You are blessed and you are a child – these two truths are synonymous.

You are an adopted child of the God of the universe. This should affect your worship. This should affect your loyalty to your adoptive Father. This should affect your choices. This should shape how you face your life. You should have a grateful outlook because you are loved forever, never to be disinherited from any spiritual blessing that exists in heaven, because God chose to adopt you.
